Obituary

Joan C. Havens, 91, of Medway, Massachusetts passed away on the morning of Tuesday April 11th surrounded by her family. Born in 1927 in Ticonderoga, New York, she was the daughter of Charles and Katherine Carpenter (nee Lambert). She graduated from Fort Edward HIgh School in 1944 and was married to John Henry Havens in June, 1950.

Joan worked as a Medical Secretary throughout the 1960s and later owned and operated several small businesses--including two hotels and a consignment shop-- with her husband. Before moving to Medway in 2013, Joan most recently resided in Fort Lauderdale. Throughout her life she had also lived in upstate New York, Pittsfield, Holyoke and Centerville, Massachusetts and Pompano Beach, Florida.

Known for her keen sense of humor and her smart style. Joan was an avid crafter and a voracious reader. She also loved to cook (her meatballs and fudge were remarkable), travel, and play card games.

Joan is predeceased by her brothers Paul, Jack and Blaine Carpenter, her sister Monica Bellephine, and her husband Jack. She is survived by her loving son, Douglas her daughter-in-law Mary Anne Padien, her three grandaughters Molly, Claire, and Abigail Padien-Havens, numerous beloved nieces and nephews and a most faithful cat, Teddy.

Funeral services will be held privately at the request of her family.
