Dilmaghani, Ahad M.D. of Chestnut Hill, April 18, 2018. Beloved husband of Sima (Moayedi) Dilmaghani and the late Caroline Howe Dilmaghani. Devoted father of Alexander Dilmaghani of Worcester, Cyrus Dilmaghani of Brookline and the late Darius Dilmaghani.
Step-father of Parisa Vakili and her husband Robert Crompton of Chamonix, France, Parastoo Vakili and her husband Dr. Afshin Ehsan of Newton. Step-grandfather of Kimiya and Kassra. Brother of Samad Dilmaghani of Iran and predeceased by one sister and four brothers. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dr. Dilmaghani was an Orthopedic Surgeon, in practice since 1967. He received his M.D. at the University of Tehran, Iran, graduating in 1961. Following his M.D. degree, Dr. Dilmaghani had six years of post-graduate training and education in the United States and in approved hospitals, by American Medical Association, for internship and residencies for completion of his orthopedic surgery training from 1961-1967 to become a specialist in orthopedic surgery. He returned to his home town Tabriz, Iran in 1967. From 1967-1979, while in Iran, Dr. Dilmaghani served as Chief of the Pahlavi Medical Center, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University Azarabadegan (formerly University of Tabriz), and Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Tabriz.
He re-entered the United States in 1979, as a Visiting Associate Professor and Fellow in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Illinois Hospital. Dr. Dilmaghani began his private practice in Orthopedics in Milford, Massachusetts in 1982, building on 12 years of private practice and orthopedic surgery in Iran. Dr. Dilmaghani attributes his success to his parents, Habib and Hamideh Dilmaghani, and his uncle, Dr. Khalil Dilmaghani.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt .16) Wellesley, on Sunday, April 22, from 2-5pm. Funeral service in the Funeral Home on Monday, April 23, at 11:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
