CORNISH- Joyce Annette Whitney, age 85, went home to be the Lord on April 12, 2018 at Ledgewood Manor in Windham.
She was born in Parsonsfield on April 20, 1932, a daughter of the late Kendrick and Doris (Bickford) Dunnells. She was educated at Blazo School and graduated from Parsonsfield Seminary.
She loved her family, her church family, and her Ledgewood Manor family. She enjoyed canning vegetables from her garden and enjoyed caring for her flower garden. She enjoyed crafts and going fishing with her grandchildren. Many of her grandchildren caught their first fish with her.
Joyce was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed going to Florida to visit her late sister Janet.
She was employed by Standard Romper making baby clothes in Portland and she also worked in dress shops in Sanford and Cornish.
She was a very active member at Calvary Bible Church and was a regular attendee up until illnesses prevented her from doing so.
Joyce is predeceased by her siblings- Leland, Ronald, Stephen, Patty, Janet, and Beverly.
She is survived by her son- Michael Humphrey and his wife Sandy of Cornish; siblings- Daniel Dunnells and his wife Elaine of Parsonsfield and Sharon Brown of FL; sister-in-law- Lucy Dunnells of Limington; grandchildren- Daneane Neyer and her husband Kevin, Michael S. Humphrey and his wife Stephanie, and Richard Humphrey and his wife Wendy; great grandchildren- Kayleigh, Meghan, Brittany, Annette, Mason, and Brenna; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday May 15 at 2 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., in Cornish. Burial will follow at Porter Village Cemetery. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com
