Marie C. (DeAndrade) Martins, 82, of New Bedford passed away Monday April 16, 2018 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Minnie (Dandan) DeAndrade, she was raised in Freetown and resided in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Martins was formerly employed by the Acushnet Company until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony J. Martins; her longtime companion, Joseph Drayton; her children, Anthony J. Martins, Jr. and Geraldine Souza; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son John J. Martins, and her siblings, Sylvester DeAndrade, Joseph DeAndrade, Jean Sylvia, and Doris Rego.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday April 20, 2018 at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 11 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 PM. At her request please do not send flowers.
