Gilberto Rivera, age 68, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Wedgemere Healthcare in Taunton.
Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on November 10, 1949, he was a loving son of the late Eulogio Rivera and Eulalia Guzman.
Gilberto grew up and was educated in Puerto Rico. He moved to the United States in 1991 where he settled in Taunton and has made his home ever since.
Gilberto attended the Iglesia Cristo Misionera in Taunton. He enjoyed spending time amongst family and friends He had a lifelong passion and love for music and a “sweet tooth” for candy and pork dishes.
He is survived by his dear brothers and sister Roberto Rivera, Eulogio Rivera and Rogelio Rivera, all of Puerto Rico and Carmen Medina of Davenport, Florida. He is also survived by his loving nieces Anette Fernandez of Taunton and Ivette Fernandez of Norton.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, April 21st from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Taunton Memorial Funeral Home, 8 Crapo St. (Off Route 140, Tremont St.) Taunton.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Gilberto’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association, 260 Cochituate Road, #200, Framingham, MA 01701.
