Obituary

Dr. Leland Campbell, 68, of Franklin Mass died on Friday, April 13, 2018. Born in New York City, to late Leland Campbell and Dorothy (Galvin) Campbell. Lee is pre-deceased by the love of his life and best friend Veronica (Stevens) Campbell, his parents Leland and Dorothy, his brother Robert Egan and brother in law Charlie Kovacs.
He leaves behind his sister Patricia (Egan) Kovacs of New York, his brother Michael Campbell, of Charlestown brother-In-law Mark Stevens and his wife Sarah and their daughters Katie and Mia of England.
He is also survived by nieces Christina (Kovacs) Guski, her husband Bill and great niece and nephew Sophia and Max Montenegro of New York, and his niece Susan (Kovacs) Petti, her husband Joseph and great nephew Tim Del Universita of New York. He also leaves behind many loving and supportive cousins, family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

In his early years Lee moved to Allston Mass and attended Boston Public Schools and played on the Allston North Little League for many years. When he was 16 he moved to Torrance CA and graduated from Torrance High School where he played baseball and became an avid fan of the Beach Boys. Upon graduation from HS Lee moved back to Allston Mass and became part of the Hooker Street Community and participated in and enjoyed many family and community events.

In 1968 Lee joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 6 years during the Vietnam War. He earned many Decorations, Medals and Commendations. Towards the end of his military career he was stationed in England where he met and married his wife and best friend Veronica Stevens.

After his service in the USAF Lee went on to earn his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate Degrees at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
From there Lee taught at Stonehill College, Boston University and then Bentley University, where he was a Professor in the Marketing Department for over 25 Years, retiring from there in May 2017.

Lee was an avid sports enthusiast and loved to attend sporting events, shows and fund raisers. He was one of the Original Volunteers to help start the New England Sports Museum which is now the Boston Sports Museum at the TD Garden.

Lee was a published author and contributor to numerous books and articles on the topics of Sports and Marketing. He was named in the book of Who’s Who in America, multiple times.

His funeral will be held on Friday, April 20 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main St. Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00. Calling hours will be on Thursday 4-7 p.m. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:30p.m. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the JDFR 60 Walnut Street, #102.
