Mr. Patrick Rodney Sweeney was born March 1, 1929, in Dick Hill, Judy Peace, Montserrat to Elizabeth Mathilda Harris (deceased) and Peter Sweeney. He was educated at Cavalla Hill School with his sisters and brothers Dovie, Mary, John, Sarah (Mammi), Lena, Jane, Thomas, Georgie and Elizabeth who preceded him in death.
On December 17, 1954 at age 23 he migrated to England and worked at Southside Dye furniture factory and also at a dry cleaners before migrating to the United States with his wife at the age of Thirty-Four (34). He worked at MIT for Nine (9) years until he retired in 1995.
Patrick’s one regret in life was not being blessed with children of his own. He has been a father figure to at least Fifteen (15) of his siblings children. He enjoyed playing the ukuleles in a band as a youth. In hindsight he would have loved to have advanced his education.
He is a strong believer in family and has worked diligently over the years to support his extended family. He has been very kind and generous with friends and loved ones.
Survivors include his many nieces, nephews and friends here and abroad too numerous to mention. Mr. Patrick Sweeney, age 89, died at his home of 51 years in Mattapan, MA, on Thursday April 5, 2018 at 2:30am.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visiting hour Saturday April 21, 2018 beginning at 9 AM in the Parkway Church 158 Blue Hills Parkway Milton. Followed by Funeral services at 10 AM. The interment will be at Mt Hope Cemetery, Mattapan
