Francisco "Frank" Baptista, Sr., 78, of Berkley died April 12, 2018 at Morton Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Leonor F. "Kitty" (Fernandes) Baptista.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Rosa (Quintal) Baptista, he lived in Westport before moving to Berkley.
Mr. Baptista was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.
He was formerly employed by Acushnet Company for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Baptista was a member of the Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento.
He enjoyed R.C. model airplanes, sailing, travel and camping.
Mr. Baptista served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife; 4 sons, Francisco Baptista, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Danbury, NH, David Baptista and his wife Hannah of Fairhaven, Manuel Baptista and wife Sheri of Berkley and Christopher Baptista and his wife Melissa of Acushnet; a brother, Joseph Baptista of Georgia; a sister, Hilda Pacheco of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren, Mina, Katherine, Kristina, Hailey, Holly, Tyler and Zachary; 4 great-grandchildren, Kamden, Annabelle, Kenidee and Kamilah; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, April 16th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, April 15th from 2-6 PM.
