Bertha A. (Cloutier) Roy, 89, of East Hartford, CT and formerly of Berlin, NH passed away on Saturday April 7, 2018 at her home. She was born in Berlin, NH on July 4, 1928 the daughter of Donat and Rose Lina (Cloutier) Cloutier and resided in Canada until age 14, when she returned to Berlin. At age 16, she moved to Claremont, NH for 4 years and then returned to Berlin, NH, where she resided until 2007, when she and her husband moved to East Hartford, CT to be near their daughter. She had been a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, the Marie Rivier Association and was involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Center.
Members of the family include her daughters Rita B. Roy of East Hartford, CT, Gloria Koch and her husband Richard of Nashua, NH and Anita L. Roy-Peterson and her husband Daniel of Glendale, AZ; nine grandchildren Shawn Howard, Derek Howard, Shelley (Howard) Townsend, April Valliere, Marie (Valliere) McBrayer, Christine (Valliere) Doggett, Robert Valliere Jr, Kristopher Jackson and Kathryn Jackson; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson, two sisters Gilberte Tremblay of Berlin, NH and Lina C Palmacci of Medford, MA; a brother Raymond Cloutier and his wife Claire of Queens, NY; a sister in law Arlene Cloutier; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Rene O. Roy, whom she married on June 22, 1950 and by two brothers Adolphe and Emile Cloutier.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 26, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, Berlin, NH. Interment will follow in St. Anne Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH on Wednesday April 25 from 6 – 8 PM.
