DARTMOUTH - Barbara Ann Johnson (Barb or Barbie but never Babs), age 82, passed away Sunday April 8th, 2018 at Brandon Woods Nursing Home in Dartmouth. Born on November 13th 1935 in New Bedford, Ma to parents Florence Irwin and Carl Mattsson. She spent her life in Dartmouth, Massachusetts where she married the late Erik B. Johnson.
She graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1953 and worked as a Switchboard Operator/Secretary at Rodney Metals/Teledyne.
She is survived by her sister Marilyn Sullivan; her two children Carl Johnson & Lynn Johnson-Wittsell; and her 4 grandchildren Erik Johnson, Leif Johnson, Carly Johnson and Rowan Wittsell
She loved spending time with her family, taking care of her yard and watching the many birds that would collect around her feeder. She was an avid sports fan from the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots to watching Golf and Figure Skating. She was also a very big fan of the game shows Family Feud, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
She enjoyed her Manhattan's and was famous in the family for her whacky sayings like "Oh dear bread and beer" and saying "crabs and ice water" when asked if she won anything on her scratch tickets.
There will be a private burial for family and close friends at her family plot in Padanaram Cemetery (South Dartmouth Cemetery).
