OXFORD – Alice G. (Dwyer) Martin, 76, of Thayer Pond Rd., died Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
She leaves 2 daughters, Kathleen R. and her husband William Isakson and Lisa A. and her husband Richard Rigoli; 4 grandchildren, Matthew and Carolyn Isakson and Christopher and Julia Rigoli. She was predeceased by her son, John A. Martin, who died in 1992, and a brother, James J. Dwyer, Jr., who died in 2004.
She was born in Freeport, New York, a daughter of James J. and Anne M. (Grogan) Dwyer, Sr., and lived in the Webster and Oxford area most of her life. She was a graduate of Bartlett High School class of 1946 and received her Bachelors Degree from Boston University in 1950.
Mrs. Martin was a reporter for many years with the Webster Times, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and the Patriot newspapers, retiring in 2001. She authored a book, “The Thief of Fire,” which was published in 2000. She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Nov. 12, in Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street,Webster. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Friday, Nov. 11, at the funeral home.
