Janet E. Wright, 50, of Marina Bay in Quincy, passed away on April 6th surrounded by family and friends. She was a courageous fighter, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Janet was born in Boston, daughter of James (deceased) and Christina (Perry) Wright.
She was a graduate of Whitman Hanson Class of 1985. Janet went on to study Occupational Therapy at Boston University, and earned her Master’s Degree from University of New Hampshire. Janet had passion for helping others and focused her professional career on working with individuals, most especially children, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorders, and psychological and neurological disorders. She owned a therapy practice in New Hampshire; Kidzplay. Janet also lectured locally and nationally on professional issues and occupational therapy. She served on several boards and committees throughout her career, including the Occupational Therapy State President for New Hampshire. In 2003 she received recognition as the Occupational Therapy Practitioner of the Year. Janet served on the American Occupational Therapy Association Board of Directors for six years, and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Occupational Association. Janet was in the process of expanding her expertise into the adult population to those suffering with dementia and those living in skilled nursing facilities. Her accomplishments were a great source of pride and joy in her life.
Janet’s other pride and joys were her friends and family. She enjoyed and loved spending time with friends near and far, old and new. Her niece and nephews were a tremendous source of pride to her. She reveled in their accomplishments and achievements.
She leaves behind her sister, Cheryl (Wright) and Philip Sartanowicz of Irvine, CA; Lynda Wright of Derry, NH; James and Jeannine Wright of Lake Hamilton, FL, and Arlene Wright of Orlando, FL. She also leaves behind her beloved niece Jenifer Sartanowicz and her nephews Christopher Wright, Matthew Sartanowicz, and Killian Wright. Janet is survived by many cousins and life-long friends.
Her funeral services will be held on Thursday April 12th at 8:15 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by her funeral mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Washington St, Whitman. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday April 11th from 4 to 8 PM.
