Wiley Lovett Griffin, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 5 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Elder Herman Griffin and Elder Charles Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Griffin was born January 4, 1929, in Irwin County, Georgia at the old McElroy place, to the late Ashley & Emma Gray Griffin, where his father was caretaker of the pecan orchard. He was a truck driver and worked in the office for Phillips Pipeline when he retired from their Doraville plant. He formerly lived in Jacksonville, Florida and Gwinnett County, Georgia. Following his return to Fitzgerald, he worked with Cleon Tankersley at Tankersley Oil as office manager and truck driver. He was a member and deacon of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church where he was an active member for many years.
He is survived by his daughters: Janis Marie & Doug Echols of Greensboro, Georgia, Sandra Faye Boyett of Sebring, Florida, and Catherine (Cathy) Anne & Matt Eisenmenger of Bluffton, South Carolina; six grandchildren; Casey & Sally Lane, Kelly & Andrew Ferenc, Jason & Bobbie Boyett, Amanda & Brad Little, Brady McPeak, and Andy McPeak; ten great-grandchildren: Maren Lane, Isaac Lane, Cash Ferenc, Colby Ferenc, Skyler Boyett, Makayla Boyett, Breanna Sieveking, Cole Sieveking, Aaron Little, and Teddy McPeak; a brother, Elder Herman & Mary Katherine Griffin of Lake City, Florida; a sister, Jean Buchan of Douglas; along with 34 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline Poole Griffin; five brothers: Albert Griffin, Barney Griffin, Virgil Griffin, Earl Griffin and John David Griffin; and a sister, Lillian Fletcher.
