Obituary

Bob Hurd , of East Bridgewater: the earth stopped moving for a moment as Bob took his final steps, joining his beloved son Kenny, in Heaven on April 8th, with his devoted wife and best friend of 50 years at his side.

He was born November 24, 1946 to the late William Hurd and Marjorie Hurd.

After graduation in 1964, he joined the USMC, serving two tours in Vietnam.

After 25 years at Nynex, he and his wife opened Wild Birds Unlimited in Easton.

He leaves to mourn him his wife, Kathy (Gisonna), son Timothy (Amy) of New York, and his daughter Samantha of Rockland. He was fiercely proud of his grandchildren: Daniel and Jacob Hurd of New York, Kelsea of Fairhaven, and Madison McGowan of Rockland. He leaves his brother Steve (Ann) of Maine, sisters Susan McDevitt of Maine and Sally Whittier of Florida, his sister- in-law Sue (Bob) Crawford , nieces Amy (Andrew) Gershman, Sarah McDevitt, Jen Whittier and Becky Hurd, his precious goddaughter. He will be sorely missed by his best friends, Bob and Donna Wagner, Bob will be remembered for his love of family, animals, especially his dog Shautzie, music, boating, fishing, motorcycling, and his unique sense of humor.

Visitation is on Thursday April 12th from 6:00-8:00PM at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. A service honoring his life will be held at the Funeral Chapel on Friday April 13th at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
