Sonya Yvette “YMama” Norman, 68 years old, of Jacksonville FL, died Saturday April 7, 2018 at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville FL.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 14th, 2018 at Ocilla Baptist Church in Ocilla GA, with the Rev. Billy Stephens officiating. The family will receive visitation Friday evening from 7:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald GA.
In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, and playing bridge, as well as many other card games, with her friends and family. She dearly loved her children, grand-children, and great grand-children, earning her well-known name of “YMama”.
Mrs. Norman was born in Atlanta GA to George Rayford Carroll and Willie Kate Carroll July 21, 1949. She lived in Atlanta, Fitzgerald and Lawrenceville GA throughout her life and recently moved to Jacksonville FL to enjoy retirement with her husband.
Yvette is survived by husband, Scott Norman, four children, Bryan Raffield and Stacey, Greg Raffield and Hope, Walter Norman IV and Byra, and Jeff Norman and Merideth.
She is also survived by her mother, Willie Kate Carroll, siblings Pamela Arrant and Gene, Terry Carroll and Stephanie Carroll, as well as nephews Mathew Carroll, Scott Morgan and Lisa, Phillip Morgan and Chica. She was proceeded in death by her father, George Rayford Carroll.
There are 11 grandchildren: Ashlee Phelps (and John), Ethan Hertz, Alex Hertz, Rachel Hertz, TJ Strawder, Tate Strawder, Emma Grace Raffield, Eva Joy Raffield, Olivia Nicodemus, Gracen Norman and Walter Norman V, and two great-grandsons, Abraham Phelps and Axel Phelps.
Her mother-in-law, Phyllis Norman of St. Joseph, Missouri and brother-in-law and his wife, Steve & Gail Norman of St. Joseph, Missouri also survive.
