Obituary

“USMC”Norman Paul Breault, of Big Canoe, GA, passed away on March 29, 2018, at the Brookdale Assisted Living in Canton, GA. He was 89 years of age.

Born on August 15, 1928 in Boston, MA and raised in Holbrook, MA, he was the son of the late Henry and Ann Breault. At the age of 17, he left high school and joined the United States Marine Corps. His distinguished career includes service during WWII and the Korean War. Most notable is his duty with the 1st Marine Division during the execution of extremely hazardous operations at Inchon Landing and the Chosin Reservoir. He was awarded a Commendation Medal with Valor and a Korean Service Medal with a Silver Star.

Upon his honorable discharge from service, he completed a GED and went on to receive a degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. He was employed for 35 years with IBM in Poughkeepsie and Boca Raton.

Norman was a member of the Marine Corps Association, The Chosin FEW Fraternity, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers.

Norman enjoyed many activities, including hiking, camping, scuba diving, boating, flying, skiing and riding his motorcycle. He also served 20 years as a member of the Village Board in Wappingers Falls, and a number of years on the Wappinger’s Lake Committee.

In 1953, Norman married Mildred Morrissey who predeceased him on March 15, 2013. He was also predeceased by his brother Henry Breault. Norman is survived by his children and their spouses, Michelle and Gary Collier of Big Canoe, GA, John and Donna Breault of Wappingers Falls and Phillip Breault of Royal Palm Beach, FL; his granddaughter Jessica Breault, and grandson Ryan and his wife Holly Breault.

Funeral services will be held on April 12, 2018 at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the VFW or The American Legion.
