Josephine S. Rego, 84, of Taunton, died peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2018. Born in Dighton on May 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Mary F. (Raposa) and Joseph Rego Silvia.
Educated in the Dighton schools, she furthered her education at Bridgewater State Teachers College and earned a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1955. Her total of 40 years as an elementary school teacher included 29 years as a first grade teacher in the Raynham Public School system at the North School on Baker Road until her retirement in 1999.
Josephine spent many hours of her retirement years in daily visits to LaSalette Shrine and lunches with friends.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Mary-Jo (Ferreira) Spencer Crowley and her grandson, Joseph C. Spencer both of Taunton.
She was pre-deceased by her sons-in-law, Donald L. Spencer and the Honorable Mayor Charles E. Crowley.
According to Josephine's wishes, a private funeral Mass and burial took place on Saturday April 7, 2018.
