Grovetown, GA – Christopher Glenn Kirkland, 38, entered into rest on Monday, April 2, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Journey Community Church with Pastor David Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Chris was born in Augusta and was a graduate of Harlem High School. He was a member of the Harlem High School Marching Band. Chris was a talented trumpet player and made All-State Band while in high school. After graduation, Chris attended West Georgia College. Chris was a welder for Kirkland Steel, a third-generation business, and his work can be seen throughout Augusta. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, cooking, watching UGA football, and Atlanta Braves baseball. He was a member of Journey Community Church, where he served by leading a J-Group. Chris could do anything that he set out to do. He was a devoted husband and father who treasured his wife and son more than anything. He lived everyday with a servant’s heart.
Survivors include his wife; Ashley Kirkland, son; Carter Kirkland, parents; Larry and Judith Kirkland of Grovetown, GA, two sisters; Nancy Mitchum (Michael) of Grovetown, GA, Tina Kirkland (Rob Baechum) of Greenville, SC, nephews; Addison Carroll, Ian Wood, nieces; Heather Hinton, Diana Kirkland, and several extended family members and friends.
