Obituary

Ralph Dennis Gilmour Sr. 68 years old, has been called home to the lord on this day, April 3, 2018. He was the lifelong companion of the late Leona Kimball.

Ralph was retired from the City of New Bedford.

He is survived by his son Ralph Jr., and his fiancée Filomenia Farias of Acushnet and his daughter Candi Durant and her husband Gary of New Bedford.

He was the son of the late Kenneth and Violet Gilmour.

He was a Deacon at the First Congregational Church of Lunds Corner, New Bedford, MA. He loved fishing, working on his son’s boat, watching his grandson play baseball, classic cars, sci-fi movies, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, rides in the country and having coffee with his friends. He was also well known for setting up and playing softball for the Easter Seals, and for many years a coach at GNBYBL.

He had the biggest heart and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need that needed it. He was a hardworking, caring man who loved his family more than anything in this world.

He is also survived by his companions children: Bruce Kimball Sr. and his fiancée Lois Gibeault of New Bedford, Linda Desroches and her husband Greg of Fairhaven, Karen Kimball and her fiancé Joey Oliveira of South Dartmouth.
His grandchildren; Brett and Christopher Gilmour of FL, Samantha Thompson of Ohio, Brooke Delano and her fiancé Devin Baker of New Bedford, Michael Durant of New Bedford, Brian and Steven Farias of Acushnet.
His great-grandchildren Anthony (AJ) and Bowen Thompson of Ohio, Mya Baker of New Bedford and the late Dalukah Ray Smith

His companions grandchildren: Bruce Rymut and his companion Bonnie Luiz of Somerset, Tracy Pina and her husband Jason of Marion, Amanda Gravanis and her husband Nikolas of Assonet, Bruce Kimball Jr., and his wife Lottie of AZ, Justin Ouellette and his wife Raedience of AR, Rachel Enos of South Dartmouth, Sheri Kimball of Carver, Jessica Vinjerud of Rochester, and Kaylee Desroches and her fiancé Josh Lima of New Bedford.
Her great-grandchildren: Jacob Rymut of Fairhaven, Lance Carreiro of Marion, Jayden, Jordan and Jayce Ouellette of Ar, Victoria Gravanis of Assonet, Kayden Kimball of AZ, Broden Rymut, Kellen Barcelos and Breckin Luiz of Somerset, Lars and Ella Vinjerud of Rochester, Abigail Lima of New Bedford and Layla Pardo of Carver.

His siblings: Robert Sr., William and Rhonda. He is also the brother of the late Patricia, Allen, Wayne, Kenneth Jr.

He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews along with a lifetime of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southcoast Cancer Center 206 Mill Rd Fairhaven MA 02719 in memory of Leona Kimball, or to the First Congregational Church at Lunds Corner 4195 Acushnet Ave New Bedford, MA 02745.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend:

Visiting hours on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 5-7:30 P.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home followed immediately by a funeral service at 7:30 PM.

Committal service will be on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.
