Aline E. ‘Noonie’ Gilligan, 91, of Beverly, passed away with her family by her side at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late William P. Gilligan with whom she had shared 63 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Theriault and the late Bertha M. (Taché) Theriault – Fournier. As a young woman she worked for Sylvania in Salem. One early summer day, Noonie met Bill Gilligan, the love of her life, at Osgood Park in Salem. They married that year and moved to Beverly Cove several years later. She devoted her life to her husband and their ever growing family. Together, she and Bill created a warm welcoming home for their family, large extended family and many friends. Noonie was a woman of many talents and interests, but family was always first and foremost. She loved many and was loved by many. She will be greatly missed.
Noonie is survived by her five sons, James P. Gilligan and wife Susan, Robert A. Gilligan and wife Kathleen, William P. Gilligan, II and wife Jennifer, Richard D. Gilligan all of Beverly, Michael W. Gilligan and wife Denise of Lynnfield, and five daughters, Elaine M. Ward and husband Ronald, Jean G. Archer, Marie B. Dawson and husband James, Diane A. Healey and husband Thomas all of Beverly, Carol A. Radzikowski and husband Gerard of Brighton and her sister Paulette Lowenthal of Wallingford, CT. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren, James, Emily, Jesse, Matthew, Elizabeth, Megan, Alec, Adam, Ashley, Alyson, Katelyn, Kerry, Ryan, Caroline, Patrick, Mackenzie and Trevor, eleven great-grandchildren, Charles, William, Rhys, Emmett, Luke, Sam, Leo, Henry, Kyle, Colby, and Ryder, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Norman and Robert Theriault.
Private funeral services were held. There were no calling hours.
