Obituary

Michael ("Mikie", "Miguelito") is flying free with his beloved hawks. He passed from this world on Good Friday, March 30, 2018 with his loving wife, sons and special cousins by his side after a long and courageous battle with sarcoma.
Mike was born and raised in Ventura and enjoys a rich heritage. He is a sixth generation Californian, with relatives who helped settle the Conejo Valley as well as Santa Barbara. Mike was also very proud of his Chumash and Irish heritage.
After starting his career in the oil industry, then later becoming a Realtor, Mike found his life's work when he was in his 50's at Community Action of Ventura in Oxnard. There, he developed programs and assisted the homeless and in-need populations. He was fair, but strict with "his" people and was known as "Big Mike". He enjoyed much respect from his clients, co-workers and other agencies involved in service to the homeless. He was also well loved by the many kids he "adopted" and brought into his home in their time of need.
Mike leaves behind his beloved wife Teri, sons Kayle and Tyler, daughter Maiya, grandson Lewis Carmichael Dominguez, as well as his brother Mark and wife Ginni McLean, nieces Stephanie and Camille, nephew Gregory, sister Michele McLean and mother Patricia McLean. Mike was preceded in death by his father Lewis ("Mac") McLean. He also leaves behind his special BBQ cousins Raylene and Danny Lopez and God Son Robert. Mike touched many lives and there are so many of his friends and family that will miss him dearly. Please know that he loved each of you and if we could we would list all of you. Please remember with laughter "The Question" that he would always ask when he first met you. Special thanks to our Hospice team, Julie, Carrie, Dr. Helmer and Courtney. We also thank Doc Helmstedter and his staff at Kaiser Baldwin Park for all the laughter and humor during the first part of this long journey.
Family and friends are invited to a Most Holy Rosary to be recited on Friday evening April 6, 2018 at 6pm in the San Buenaventura Mission, 211 E. Main Street Ventura.
