Jacqueline “Jackie” Therrien
Manchester-Jacqueline “Jackie” Therrien, 90, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on March 31, 2018.
Daughter of the late Charles Garceau and Laura (Des Rochers) Garceau, she was born on October 13, 1927 in Milford MI. The family returned to Manchester in the late 1920’s. Jackie was educated at local Catholic Schools. She attended and graduated from the Notre Dame School of Nursing in 1948. She married her late husband Maurice in 1948.
After marrying, Jackie chose to be a stay at home mom to raise her children. She maintained her nursing license through the years and would return to full time nursing in 1970. While working until her retirement, she worked in various positions in the field. In the early 1980’s she started working in the substance abuse field and she returned to college to complete her BS degree in 1982 from SNHU (then New Hampshire College). She continued to work at CMC on the Rush unit until she retired in 1992. After retiring from full time work, she worked at the Bishop Peterson Residence and The Gale Home for a number of years. Jackie loved to travel and after her retirement she traveled extensively to Hong Kong, Hawaii, the British Isles, and Arizona, she frequently visited her grandchildren in Vermont and Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice A. Therrien Sr., her son, Philip C. Therrien, and a daughter in law Maggie Therrien.
Family members include her sons, Maurice Jr of Deland FL, Charles and his Wife Susan of Manchester NH and her daughter Jacqueline Kenney and her husband James of Thetford, VT. She also leaves her brother Gustav Garceau and his wife Norma of Rye NH, a niece Janet Stanley and her husband Kenney of Tampa, FL and a nephew Kenneth Coulter and his wife Angela of Tampa Fl. She leaves 7 grandchildren Joanne and husband, Ronald, Jolene, and her husband, Ryan, Monique, Maurice III and his wife Olga, Jim, Phillip and April, and 8 great grandchildren Daniel, Mia, Dustin, Ronald Jr., Dominic, Austin, Madison and Jillian.
She was also predeceased by her sister, Mariette Coulter in 2013.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm at J.N. Boufford and Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 10 am in St Hedwig Church, 147 Walnut St.
Committal prayers will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester NH 03102.
