Glenna Ann Brooks passed away on March 30, 2018 at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, NH.
Glenna was born on October 11, 1930 in Berlin, NH, the daughter of Lillian (Cropley) and Henry Gilbert. She was a lifelong resident of Berlin and graduated from Berlin High School in 1950. It was also in Berlin where she met and married Nicholas M. Brooks on July 22, 1949.
She worked at J. J. Newberry's Department Store and was a "lunch lady" in the Berlin schools, a job she loved because of her relationship with the teachers, administrators and children, many of whom she knitted hats and mittens for. She also worked at the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, NH for many years. Glenna was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, husband Nicholas, Brother Herbert Gilbert, sister Dorothy Beaulieu of Sanford, ME and granddaughter Paula of Wirtz, VA. She is survived by her sons Nicholas H. of Berlin, Stephen (Evelyn) of Wirtz, VA, Michael (Jill) of Breinigsville, PA and daughter Cindy (Peter) of Portland, ME, 9 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 22 at 10 AM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in the New City Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, PO Box 545, Berlin, NH. The family wanted everyone to know that the elevator is now working. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home, Berlin, NH.
