Obituary

FALL RIVER – João Manuel DaSilva, age 70, passed away on March 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, peacefully at home. He was the beloved husband of Gabriela (Arruda) DaSilva of Santo António, Além Capelas, São Miguel, Açores. Born in São Roque, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late João and Eduarda (Melo) DaSilva. Prior to retirement he worked as a material handler for Quaker Fabrics. He was a parishioner of Espirito Santo Church. In the Açores, João worked for Mobil and was well known for being a mechanics instructor before migrating to the U.S.

Along with his wife he is survived by his sons Nuno DaSilva (fiancé Loriann Arruda) and John DaSilva (wife Walcimara “Bia”) all of Fall River; siblings Jose DaSilva, Floriano DaSilva, Lucia Arruda and Maria dos Anjos Jesus all of Canada, Horacio DaSilva of Açores and Mario Jorge DaSilva of Bermuda; grandchild Geovanna M. DaSilva. As well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday here at 7:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Espirito Santo Church at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Monday from 5-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
