Obituary


Ola Jean (Donald) Awalt, 97, better known as “Gram” of Abington, passed away on March 28th surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Brice Awalt.

Jean was born in Charlestown, daughter of the late William and Ola (Ready) Donald.

She was an avid reader and won many ribbons at the Marshfield Fair for her crocheting.

Ola is survived by her four children, Daleann Awalt of Abington, Jean Carey and her husband Paul of Braintree, Brice Awalt and his wife Jane of SC and Donald Awalt of Whitman, her four grandchildren, Tiffany Brown of Foxboro, Dawn Sesock of Whitman, Derek Awalt of CT and Deven Awalt of Whitman and many great grandchildren and extended family whom she adored.

A special thanks to the Hospice of the South Shore for the incredible kindness and care they showed Gram and her family.

Her funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 3rd at 12:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held on Monday April 2nd from 5:00-8:00PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Abington Food Pantry, 425 Plymouth St., Abington, MA 02351 or to the Tufts Library, 46 Broad St., Weymouth, MA 02188.
