Obituary

In Fall River, William James Hermenau Sr., age 85, passed away in the Sarah Brayton Nursing Home following a period of declining health. William was the husband of the late Claire (Landreville) Hermenau. He was born in Bayonne, N.J., the son of the late Arthur & Louise (Pinkham) Hermenau. William attended schools on Martha’s Vineyard. He served his country honorably during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He worked as a union carpenter and also at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. William enjoyed swimming, kayaking, had a love for all animals, helping all people in need and above all cherished his time with family. William leaves his five loving children, Walter Hermenau and wife Lisa, William Hermenau Jr. and wife Joanne of Rockland, Wayne Hermenau and wife Cheryl of Carver, Warren Hermenau and wife Lori of Oviedo, FL and Paul Hermenau of Taunton. He also leaves his nine grandchildren and his late siblings, Walter, Carl and Arthur Hermenau, Marie Hadfield and Louise Allingham. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Wednesday, April 4th at 9 am., the funeral cortege will depart for Martha’s Vineyard at 10 am. Burial will be in the family lot in Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday from 5-7 pm.
