SPRINGFIELD – Peter L. Galanis, 61, of the Glenwood section of Springfield, was Called Home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on April 25, 1956, a beloved son of the late Emmanuel and Anastasia (Fhoutrakos) Galanis. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Putnam High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was employed as a custodian for the City of Springfield School Department. Peter was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Boston Red Sox and the New York Jets. Above all, he loved spending time in the outdoors camping with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Susan A. (McRobbie) Galanis. They were married on April 20, 1997 at Union Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 20 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving sons, Anthony Kashmanian of West Springfield, and Emmanuel “Manny” Galanis and his fiancée, Jennifer Belanger, James Galanis and Samuel Galanis, all of Springfield; his dear brother, James Galanis of Springfield; his five dear sisters, Theresa Manchester and her husband, Edwin, of Old Lyme, CT, Angela Fortune and her husband, Michael, of Wilbraham, Mary Dziedzic and her husband, Dennis, of Springfield, and Charlene Bryant and her husband, Steven, and Katherine Galanis, all of Ludlow; his dear father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Janet (Drost) McRobbie of Springfield; his three dear brothers-in-law, Scott McRobbie and Gavin McRobbie and his wife, Jeanette, all of Springfield and Craig McRobbie and his partner, Kristi, of Sheridan, AR; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Galanis and McRobbie families. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear sister, Gail Trahan and her husband, Henry “Hank” Trahan. His family will receive friends on Monday evening, April 2, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
