Paolo S. DiIorio, of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 28th at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was 84.
Born in Torre Le Nocelle, Avellino, Italy, he was the son of the late Flaminio and Adelina (Cirignano) DiIorio.
Paolo worked as a laborer in the construction field. After retiring, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family. Family was the most important thing to Paolo. In his spare time, Paolo enjoyed gardening. He was known for growing delicious tomatoes and zucchini.
Paolo was the beloved husband of Luisa (Capone) DiIorio. They married on July 26, 1957 and together they shared 60 years of loving marriage. He was the devoted father of Anthony DiIorio of Florida, Franco DiIorio and his partner Toni Bardzillowski of Roslindale, Bruno DiIorio and his wife Norma of Medford, Adele Harris and her husband Chris of Tewksbury, and the late Robert DiIorio, who passed away in 1985. Paolo was the loving grandfather of Robyn, Christine, Robert, Paul, Carmen, Sophia, Olivia DiIorio, and Isabella Harris. He is also survived by many loving sisters-brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Paolo was preceded in death by his sister Maria Guesaldi.
His funeral service will be celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville, on Saturday, March 31st at 12:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford on Saturday, from 10 AM to noon. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
