Obituary

Charles Santos, 92, of New Bedford died March 20, 2018 peacefully at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.
He was the husband of the late Lucinda "Lucy" (Sylvia) Santos.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Virginio and Claudina (Bandara) Santos, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Santos was formerly employed as a custodian at Ashley School for many years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Santos was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Freetown Memorial Post 6643 and the Mt. Carmel Seniors, Hazelwood Seniors and Buttonwood Seniors. Survivors include his son, Ronald J. Santos of New Bedford; a daughter, Diane M. Santos of New Bedford; a brother, Antone Santos of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Dolores Macedo and Joyce Medeiros, both of New Bedford; a great-granddaughter, Delilah Santos; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Wayne Santos, the grandfather of the late Matthew Santos and Michael Santos and the brother of the late Hilda Pina.
His private Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 28th in St. Mary's Church. Burial followed St. John's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association Massachusetts Chapter, 685 Canton St., Suite 103, Norwood, MA. 02062.
