Ellis E. "Bud" Asbury, 84, of Chesterfield, died peacefully at home on March 26, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 12, 1934 at home on the banks of Sand Creek near North Vernon, Indiana, the son of Ellis F. and Alta Asbury. He graduated from Anderson High School and attended Indiana University. He served in the US Army from 1952-1960.
He worked as a union carpenter, and then as a construction manager for various companies across the country for over 45 years. He was a member of Carpenters Local Union #1016 since 1966. He served 13 years on the town board of Chesterfield. He attended Chesterfield Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, watching the sun set on the Gulf of Mexico, bird watching, watching IU basketball and the Colts, and telling stories. He enjoyed helping others succeed in their endeavors.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Judith A. (Eglen) Asbury of Chesterfield, 2 sons, Greg (Diana) Asbury of Cape Coral, Florida and Mike Asbury of Ft. Wayne; 6 grandchildren, Derek (Lisa) Asbury, Angela Steider, Bradley (Brianna) Asbury, Bryan Asbury, Kara Asbury, and Caleb Asbury; 9 great grandchildren, a brother, William Asbury, and 3 sisters, Rosemary Bilyeu, Diane Hurst, and Cynthia Asbury, many nieces and nephews, and " our angel" Sheri Linder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Betty and Almeda and brother Robert.
The family would like to thank St. Vincent Hospice nurse Joann for her compassion and care of Bud.
A Celebration of Life service is being planned on May 26, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Chesterfield Christian Church officiated by Pastor Ned Clark. Friends may visit with the family from 1-3 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Christian Church.
