Roger Patrick Lowery, 68, of Wray, Georgia, died at home on Saturday, March 24, 2018, after an extended illness.
There will be a Memorial Service for Mr. Lowery on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 2:00 PM, at the Martin Centre, 109 E. Ashley Street, Douglas, Georgia. All are invited.
Mr. Lowery was born December 6, 1949, in Laurel, Mississippi, to the late Bo Lowery & Kathryn Patrick Lowery Deering. He loved to work hard and continued to work even after retiring after 35 years with Modern Fibers/Shaw Industries. He found his second work family with Federal/State Inspection, which brought him much satisfaction and many good memories. Mr. Lowery loved and tried to honor Jehovah God and imitate Jesus Christ. He regularly spent time helping people learn about the Bible and God’s Kingdom. He was an elder in the Douglas, Georgia, Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 40 years. Mr. Lowery especially enjoyed working hard in organizing and assisting with annual conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses. This earned him his nickname “Convention Man”. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him, especially his family.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Lowery of Wray; children: Eric & Barbara Lowery, Brad Lowery, Kathryn & Justin Knight and Matt & Shaina Lowery; grandchildren: Ean, Drew and Callie Lowery, Kaia Lowery, Roman and Jaxon Knight, and Nicholas Ossa; a sister, Naomi & John Proudfoot and many beloved relatives in Mississippi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Byrd and the mother of his three children, Teresa Harper Lowery.
