Obituary

Robert J. Mucciarone 91, of Westwood, died peacefully, Saturday March 24, 2018 at the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Pauline M. (Pasquantonio) Mucciarone, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Born in Franklin, November 5, 1926, a son of the late Anthony and Vera (Benedetto) Mucciarone, he was a former resident of Franklin, until moving to Westwood in 1958.

He was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1944.

Upon graduating high school, “Bob” joined the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed aboard the destroyer USS Eugene A. Greene. He attained the rank of SF3/C and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in July 1946.

When Bob returned home, he enrolled at the University of Massachusetts and received his associate’s degree in Turfgrass Science & Management. For over 35 years he was the golf course superintendent at Dedham Country & Polo Club.

He was devoted to his family and work, was an avid Boston Red Sox and Bruins fan and enjoyed traveling to Florida.

He was a former member of the Franklin Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Golf Course Superintendent’s of New England.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Judith A. Lovely and her husband Edward of Franklin, Robert A. Mucciarone and his wife Dorothy of Walpole and Jeffrey S. Mucciarone and his companion Simone Coutinho of Uxbridge, his twin brother Norman Mucciarone and his wife Blanche of Newton, and a sister Marie Dalo and her late husband Steve of Franklin.

He also leaves his grandchildren, Sean P. Lovely and his wife Kristin of Franklin, Erin K. Lovely of Franklin, 2 great grandchildren, Braden & Teagan Lovely and many nieces & nephews.
He was the brother of the late Anthony Mucciarone.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tues. Apr. 3rd, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 10AM.

Interment with military honors will follow at the parish cemetery.

Calling hours are Mon. Apr. 2nd from 4-8PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
