Obituary

Gail Elaine Apperson Harris, 71, of Tifton passed away Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Andy Ring officiating. Mrs. Harris will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 28, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Henry Aultman, Brandon Graham, David Tanner, Larry Apperson, Randy Ogletree and Tommy Nash will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Bentley, David Brown and Tommy Cooper.

Born December 4, 1946 in Tifton, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Louis Apperson and Jocie Lee Tucker Apperson. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Theron Apperson and James Cecil Apperson; one sister, Wilma Apperson Eubanks; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Brown and Elouise Holman; a nephew, David Apperson; and a niece, Pam Howell. Before retiring, she worked as a para-professional at Len Lastinger Elementary.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her husband, Lonnie C. Harris of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Kyle Brent and Wendy Harris of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Amanda “Mandy” and David McMahan of Tifton; her grandchildren, Carter McMahan and Keaton McMahan; two brothers-in-law, Joe Eubanks of Ty Ty and John Holman of Sacramento, California; her nieces and their husbands, Jody Eubanks Fussell and Laymond, Vickie Apperson Cofield and Larry, and Ann Burke; and her nephews and their wives, Joey Eubanks, Jamie Eubanks, Donald Apperson and Ruth, Carl Bentley, David Brown, Thomas Cooper and Curt Bentley.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Tift Regional Medical Center Anita Stewart Oncology Center, P. O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793.
