Charles Donald Dussault
It is with great sadness that the family of Charlie Dussault announces his sudden passing on March 23rd, 2018 at the age of 71 of cardiac arrest at St Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton MA, where he was surrounded by his wife, children and grand children. He was the beloved husband of Linda (LaPierre) Dussault to whom he was wed on August 26, 1967 in Attleboro, MA and married to for over 50 years.
Born in Pawtucket, RI on January 11, 1947, he was the son of the late Hubert and Constance (Vandal) Dussault. He was the brother of the late Richard Dussault. He leaves behind his loving wife Linda, his son Christopher and his wife Dana of Bennington, VT, his granddaughter Kelsey of Burlington, VT, his daughter Amy and her husband Dan Freeman of Raynham, MA, his granddaughter Hannah and his grandson, Hunter, his son Michael and his girlfriend, Jena of Nantucket, MA, his brother Bob and his wife Ann of Anncortes, WA, his sister Connie and her husband Norman Proulx of Attleboro, MA, his sister Claudia and her husband Jeff Howell of Chico, CA and his aunt Dolores (Dussault) LaPierre of Pawtucket, RI. He also leaves behind 17 nieces and nephews.
Charlie grew up in Pawtucket, RI and South Attleboro, MA. He was a 1965 graduate of Attleboro High School and continued his education, receiving degrees from Wentworth Institute of Boston and University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He received extensive training and certificates from The Foxboro Company, Northeastern University, Bristol Community College and Massachusetts Manufacturing Partnerships.
A resident of Taunton for the past 43 years, he retired in 2016 as Senior Engineer at Pressure Biosciences Inc in Easton, MA.
He held prior positions at World Wide Optical as General Manager, the Foxboro Company where he spent 24 years in various positions as a Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Instructor (where he traveled to many countries) and Application & System Design Engineer. He was a Graduate School Instructor for many years at Northeastern University in Boston. He also worked in manufacturing at Texas Instruments.
Charlie’s many interests and activities included volunteering for Jr. Achievement, Little League Baseball Coach for his sons’ teams, PTA & School fundraising for his children’s schools and the Grid Iron Club. He was an avid fisherman and loved golfing with his children, grandchildren and friends. Charlie was quite skilled in carpentry, plumbing and electrical and he was an all around “fix it” man. He enjoyed repairing his first two-family apartment house and building most of his first home in Taunton. He also enjoyed spending many weekends helping his son Chris to build his timber frame home in Bennington, VT. He built many wood projects for his grandchildren, including a rocking horse, cradle, stove and table & chairs with love and a quality that will last for many generations. He spent many years taking his grandchildren to HomeDepot’s and Lowes’ Saturday morning “build-it” workshops. He loved picking vegetables out of his own garden and teaching his kids how easy it was. His greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was planting a garden, taking them salt water fishing, golfing, kayaking at the beach, playing basketball with his grandson or taking his granddaughter to the mall.
In 2010, after a few years of searching for the perfect summer home near the beach, Charlie, together with his children purchased a little cottage, built in 1909, in Onset’s historical area of Point Independence just steps away from the ocean, where he enjoyed clamming, fishing, boating and updating the cottage with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed many cookouts and nights around the fire pit, inviting family and friends to experience the relaxing and peaceful feel of Oceanside area.
Charlie’s giving continued on after his death by being a donor to help others in their time of need.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Chateau at 48 Bay Road, Norton, MA from 12:00 noon to 4:00PM on Saturday, April 21st, 2018.
