Elizabeth “Gayle” Hollis Cox, 71, of Valdosta, formerly of Tifton, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Junior Morgan, the Rev. John Sewell, and the Rev. Rayford Walker officiating. Mrs. Cox will be laid to rest at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 27, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Cox will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Josh Ledden, Jed Drawdy, Mark Spampinato, Paul Spampinato, Cooper Scruggs, Hunter Cook and Austin Langley will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 14, 1947 in Tift County, Mrs. Cox was the daughter of the late George Washington Hollis and Azarene Elizabeth Evans Hollis. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sylvia McBrayer and Carolyn Spampinato. She was retired and attended Pineview Holiness Baptist Church in Tifton. She loved fishing, flowers and playing the piano.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband, Billy Cox of Valdosta; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kevin Stephens of Jesup and Kyle and Amanda Stephens of Fort Payne, Alabama; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracie and Bobby Ledden of Tifton and Jodi and Jimbo Scruggs of Valdosta; and seven grandchildren, Brooke Stephens, Austin Langley, Renee Drawdy, Jed Drawdy, Josh Ledden, Aubrie Scruggs and Cooper Scruggs.
