Obituary

Joseph Lawrence Hooley, Jr. of Natick, 94, died Sunday March 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was son of the late Joseph L. Hooley, Sr. and Margaret E. Clifford Hooley. Beloved husband for 50 years to the late Elizabeth A. Hooley who died on April 24, 2005.
Joe grew up in Cambridge and Watertown and attended Boston College High School as a member of the class of 1941. He was a proud veteran of World War II as part of the 45th Infantry Division supporting his country from 1942 through 1945. Throughout his life, he took great pride in his military service in support of his country. After returning from the war, he attended Boston University and Harvard University Extension Programs where he met his beloved wife, Betty. He began his career in banking at the Rockland Atlas National Bank, which was acquired by State Street Bank. He enjoyed a highly successful 32 year career at State Street, retiring in 1985 as head of the main banking branch in Boston. His retirement years were filled with joy and the blessings of traveling with his wife and enjoying all of the important life moments of his 15 grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great friend to all who had the privilege to know him.
He dedicated his life to his Church, his Country and his cherished Family.
Joe is survived by and dear father of Nancy E. Pansa and her husband Leonard of East Longmeadow, Joseph L. Hooley III and his wife Linda of Hingham, Kathleen A. Hamel and her husband Keith of Natick, Maureen P. Vine and her husband Paul of Londonderry, NH, Stephen C. Hooley and his wife Nancy of Kansas City.
Cherished grandfather of Jennifer and (Mayank) Seksaria, Drew and (Analise) Pansa, Emily Pansa, Lauren and (John) Coppo, Katherine, Allison and Joseph L. (IV) Hooley, Kristin and (Brian) Haggerty, Matthew and (Alison) Hamel, Kyle Hamel, Amanda and PJ Vine and William, Stephen and Ryan Hooley.
Beloved Great Grandfather to Emmeline and Elizabeth Haggerty.
Devoted brother of the late Marguerite Hooley and Frances Kelly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday March 28, at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
