LIMERICK- Robert F. Record Jr., 86, passed away on March 24, 2018. Dad was born February 29, 1932, to Robert F Record, Sr, and Abbie Esther Andrew Record in Buxton, Maine, in what was recently known as the Mustard House.
His parents moved numerous times between Maine and Massachusetts. The family was completed by sisters Elaine Record Graves (Ivan) and Charlotte Record Mayberry (Milton).
He got his Pilot’s License when he was 17 and eventually owned a Luscombe 8-A and an Ercoupe. He had lots of fun with his Indian Chief motorcycle. Uncle Sam called him to serve in the Korean War. Dad refused to carry a weapon due to his strong religious belief and served as a Medic - getting wounded twice. He was a patient in the Osaka General 29th Hospital when the Truce was signed.
Dad met and married Kathleen "Joan" Mowery from Brightsand, Saskatchewan. He said he wanted to marry a girl who could saddle a horse. Our parents married in 1957. They had three children: Roberta Record, John M. Record (Pam), and Tracey Record.
Dad was a Sprinkler Engineer and worked in that line for many years - at times owning his own business. Later in life, he got his Aircraft Power & Plant license getting 100% on the FAA exam.
He was known for his extraordinary strength - lifting engines out of cars, turning cars upside down (back in the day when cars were significantly bigger). He had a beautiful tenor voice and loved to imitate the likes of Mario Lanza and others. He did a good Ronald Reagan. Nobody told stories like Dad! He had the ability to make you feel like you were "right there". When he was 17, he and friend, Thornton Millet, hitch-hiked to California without telling their parents. They were gone for four months!
Raised a Seventh-Day Adventist from birth, he died in the Blessed Hope on March 24, 2018. He was 86 (or 21 1/2 - however you want to look at it). He was predeceased by his parents, sister Elaine, wife of over 50 years - Joan, and daughter Tracey Record. Remaining are his children: Roberta Record of Limerick, and John M. Rec-ord (Pam) of Caribou, grandchildren John W. Record of Ooltewah, TN, and Maranda Record, MD, of Winter Park, FL, sister Charlotte of Berwick, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
He was looking forward to coming up in the Special Resurrection between the 6th and 7th plagues and seeing Jesus come in that small black cloud in the East. Our family has made plans to all meet at the North-North-East Gate of the Holy City. (The trip is real - it's out of this world!) We'd like as many of you as possible to join us there!
