Obituary

Rocco J. DiCarlo passed away peacefully at the Aberjona Nursing Center of Winchester after a brief illness. He was 96. Born and raised in East Cambridge he was the son of the late Joseph and Emilia (LaRocca) DiCarlo. Rocco served with the Army during World War II and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in Panama and in Italy where he earned the Bronze Star Medal. During the war he courted his beloved Isabella. Upon his discharge, Rocco went to work in the clothing manufacturing business and worked as a supervisor for many years with Plymouth Manufacturing in the Castignetti Brothers Building. Rocco and Isabella raised their daughters in Medford where they have lived for many years. Rocco was a kind and thoughtful man who loved his family dearly. His motto in life was always family first. He enjoyed gardening in his back yard and was quite good at it. He was not only a proud patriot who served his nation, he was also a proud New England Patriots fan who never missed a game.


The beloved husband of Isabella (DeMango) DiCarlo, he was the devoted father Amelia Prestigiovanni and her husband John of Medford, Patricia LoConte and her husband Carl of Stoneham. He was a loving grandfather of John Prestigiovanni, Jr and his wife Amy, Theresa Shano and her husband John, Anthony Prestigiovanni and his wife Emily, Carl LoConte III and his partner Joe Zichi, Jenna LoConte and her fiancé Chris Raistrick. Rocco was a loving great-grandfather of Jeremy, Zachary and Jillian Prestigiovanni and Jared Shano. He was also the dear brother of Andrew and Nicholas Monaco, the late Philomena Citro, Mary Poulas and Rose Paglieroni.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Tuesday, March 27th from 10 AM to 12 Noon concluding with a funeral service in the funeral home at Noon. Interment with military honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
