Maurice Raymond Levesque passed away peacefully on March 24, 2018. He was born on May 4, 1927 in Brunswick, Maine to Alexina (Aube) and Eugene Levesque. Maurice graduated from Brunswick High School, Portland Junior College and the University of Maine at Orono where he was a member of the swim team. He served in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Korean war.
Maurice moved to Berlin, NH in 1952 where he met and married Marjorie Theriault in 1953. It was also in Berlin where he began a 37 year career as the Manager of Day's Jewelers store and later was the Vice President of Home Bank, retiring in 1992. Maurice also served as the President of the Berlin Area Chamber of Commerce.
Maurice enjoyed retirement as an avid skier and golfer and rarely missed watching a game of his favorite hockey team, the Montreal Canadians. He was a member of the Androscoggin Valley Country Club, VFW Post 2520, American Legion Post 82, Lions Club and St. Anne's Church of the Good Shepard Parish.
Maurice is predeceased by his mother and father, brother Roger Levesque of Brunswick, ME, and sister Lucy Cowan of Holyoke, MA. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie, sister Jocelyne Sias of Bangor, ME, sons David of Naples, FL and Peter (Cindy) of Portland, ME, grandchildren Derek of Dania Beach, FL, Deanna of Naples, FL, Sarah (Marc) Bland and Chelsea (Brendan) McGunigle of San Diego, CA, four great grandchildren Bentley and Brayden Thompson and Nolan and Fiona Bland as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to Compassus Hospice and Scarborough Terrace for the compassionate care provided to Maurice over the past 18 months.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday June 23 at 10 AM at St. Kieran Cemetery. . Arrangements have been entrusted to Bryant Funeral Homes, Berlin & Gorham, NH.
