Obituary

Omer R. Thibodeau, 86, of Brooklyn, CT, formerly of Maribeth Drive, Johnston, died Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Providence. He was the husband of Annette (DiPietro) Thibodeau. They had been married for 56 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William and Ernestine (Laboissonniere) Thibodeau. Omer had lived in Johnston for 60 years before moving to Brooklyn, CT in 2015. He was a Korean War Veteran.

Omer was a Sales Representative for Sunbeam Bread for 31 years and later retired from Textron, Inc. after 15 years. He was active as Union President. At St. Thomas Church he was a Eucharistic minister, CCD teacher and member of the church council.

He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School where he excelled in Track and Cross Country. He was the first Mt. Pleasant athlete to receive All-State honors all four years. He was an All-New England Cross Country Athlete in his senior year. He was awarded a full track scholarship to Providence College. He played golf in the RI Senior Golf League. He was an avid sports fan supporting the NE Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and wintering in Florida.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: David Thibodeau and his wife, Cheryl of North Providence, Steven Thibodeau and his wife, Susan of Johnston and his daughter Lisa Fiedler and her husband, Steven of Brooklyn, CT, his grandchildren: David, Chelsea, Arianna, Leila, Taylor, Ashley and Rebecca Thibodeau, Matthew and Zachary Fiedler, Dana Stonis and Kayla Cabral , his five great grandchildren and his siblings Robert Thibodeau and Dorothy Smith and her husband, Bill all of Florida. He was the father of the late John Thibodeau and brother of the late Arthur and Ernest Thibodeau.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Visitation Monday 4-7pm.
