Joan W. Hurld McCormack (Wells) of Milton passed away March 21st at the Colonial Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Weymouth. Born in Montague, MA she was raised in Milton and graduated from Milton High School. She lived in Milton for 30 years and previously lived in Quincy and S. Boston. She was a Postal Police Officer for the US Postal Inspectional Services for 22 years before retiring in 1988 and she also worked for the Boston Globe as an Under Cover Consumer Activist. She was a published poet that wrote poetry about Cunningham Park in Milton and S. Boston.
She was the beloved wife of the late William B. McCormack and the devoted daughter of the late Nelson B. and Christine (Monohan) Wells as well as the loving mother of Dawn McGee of Plymouth, William B. Hurld of Rockland, Donald F. Hurld of Quincy, Susan Long of FL, Diane Joyce of the Domincan Republic, John Hurld of S. Boston, Maureen Dempster of VA and the late Linda Bilton. Step-mother of Kevin, Brian, William B., Jr., Terrance, Stephen and Shauna McCormack and the late Robert McCormack. Sister of Margaret Batchelder of Quincy and the late Edward M. Wells and Patricia Thornton. Also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home 326 Granite Ave Milton Wednesday morning at 11. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 pm. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.
