Obituary

…Army Sniper, machinist; 84
TEWKSBURY - Mr. William David Vreeland, age 84, a veteran of the Korean War era, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, March 18, at Lowell General’s Saints Campus. He was the beloved husband of the late Alberta V. (Quinzani) Vreeland for fifty five years. Alberta died in June 2014.
Bill was born in New York City, in March 1934, to Paul Morra and Florence Vreeland. He was orphaned at age 3, and raised in the Hells Kitchen neighborhood in Manhattan by his grandparents, Cornelius and Catherine Vreeland. After his marriage to Alberta, they moved to Arlington, and later to Foster Road in Tewksbury, and finally settled into the Carnation Drive senior housing in 2007.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era, after lying about his age to enlist, and trained as a sniper. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
Bill worked as a machinist, and retired from Amersham International in Burlington, where he had achieved the status of shop foreman.
Bill leaves his dearest friends, James and Rose McCann, former neighbors in Tewksbury, who now reside in Manchester, NH.
