Alan R. Goodell, 52, of Princeton, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018.
Alan was born in May of 1965 in North Adams, Massachusetts to parents Edwin and Kathleen Goodell. Alan was a graduate of UMass Amherst where he received Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering. While at UMass, Alan also taught several classes in basic and advanced surveying to under graduate students.
Al was the youngest of five children and is survived by two brothers, John Goodell of Shaftsbury, VT and Greg Goodell of Hudson, NH, and two sisters, Joann Hathaway of North Adams, MA and Robin Goodell of Worcester, MA. Al was also the loving Uncle of ten nieces and nephews.
Known fondly to his family and friends as Al, he was soft spoken and known for his gentle, caring nature and kind demeanor. Al was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends. He worked as a landscaper and carpenter with land engineering firms around Massachusetts. He was most recently employed with O’Brien Home Services of Holden, MA. Al was known as a hard worker, and could often be found helping family and friends with building and home renovation projects.
Al was a consummate gentleman. If an advanced class in manners was offered, Al would have been the perfect professor … always with a please, thank you, good morning, good afternoon, and good night … We will miss you, Al!
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, March 23rd at Callahan Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Interment will be private.
