BUXTON- Erle Maitland Leavitt, age 90, passed away on March 16, 2018 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
He was born in Buxton on Sept. 5, 1927, a son of the late Chester and Louise (Boothby) Leavitt.
As a child he attended the Duck Pond Grammar School, Bridgton Academy and graduated from SD Hanson High School. He went on to further his education at the University of Maine in Orono.
Through his working years, he was employed at S.D. Warren as primarily worked as a section leader.
Erle enjoyed working around his home and yard. He especially enjoyed cutting fire wood and working with his tractor.
He was a member of the former Standish Masonic Lodge #70.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife- Ruth (Ranks) Leavitt; a daughter- Louise; and his siblings- Joseph, Neil, and Wayne Leavitt.
Erle is survived by his children- Mary Doucette, Donna Kinney, Victoria Perry, and Peter Leavitt; and many grandchil-dren.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday March 23, from 4 – 7 PM, followed by a 7 PM funeral service at the Chad E. Poi-tras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Burial will be in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in Buxton.
