Dorette E. (DeVarennes) Jodoin, 92, of Salem, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at home, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. She was the wife of the late Alfred E. Jodoin, Sr.
Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Fred C. and Isabella A. (Leger) DeVarennes. Dorette was a graduate of the Salem School of Nursing and a proud and active member of their Alumni Association. She nursed primarily at Salem Hospital and was the head nurse, for several floors, during her career spanning over forty years.
Dorette loved her family and traveling with her many friends. She had a wonderful quick sense of humor and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Devoted to her Immaculate Conception Parish, she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister prior to her failing health.
Dorette is survived by her son, Michael E. Jodoin and his wife, Tanja of Hamilton, her daughters, Andrea R. Guay and her husband, Norman of Danvers, Lisa M. Jean of Salem, seven grandchildren, Kathryn Doty and husband, Brian, Meredith Sheldon and husband Jonathan, Alexis Guay, Isabella & Carson Jodoin, Curtis & Travis Jean, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Elise and Sabine. She also leaves her sister, Joyce M Crowder of Cocoa, FL, several nieces and nephews including Diane M. DeVarennes of Salem and her good friends, Rita M. Shay and Mary Tremblay. She was predeceased by her sons, Ricky and Jody Jodoin.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 11:00 AM. Visiting hours, at the funeral home, will be on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be private.
