BUXTON- Martha (Louise) Guthzeit, age 76 (almost 77), passed away on March 14, 2018, at Maine Medical Center hospital after a fall that took place two-three days prior to death.
She was born in Livermore Falls Maine, on April 10, 1941, daughter to late Willy and Mary Begin.
Louise attended Livermore Falls schools until third grade after which due to personal circumstances was forced to abandon schooling.
Louise and her current husband Bill Guthzeit were married on August 11, 1990, a few years later they then bought a small home in Buxton Maine.
Louise was a loving mother and spent most of her life raising her children, she did however throughout her years have various jobs. Louise’s world consisted of the following: family, friends, owls, and Christmas. She loved all of which with every fiber of her being. Now I’m not here to lie to everyone, like most people Louise had a temper and she wanted things done now rather than later. But not matter how many times she would bicker with her loved ones she kept loving them as much as she always had.
Louise loved owls and Christmas (mainly the lights and pretty decorations), she would decorate her whole house for the holidays making it seems like a wonderland of brightly colored festivities. Her love for owls was well known throughout her friends and family, her house was filled with owl knick-knacks and owl stuffed animals. She didn’t just love owls and Christmas of course, she loved her family and friends just as much (and I hope a little more). She treated her many, many friends as part of the family and loved them just the same.
She was predeceased by her children- Paul Mankenn, Mary Wells, Fred Laduke (assumed to be deceased after years of no contact), and Donald Lunt; brother- Will Begin, and Billy Begin; sister- Joanna Packard.
Louise was survived by her husband- Bill Guthzeit; her children- Rita and her husband Mike Stilphen, Bill Lunt, Louise and her husband Richard Wilcox, and Joan and her husband Harold Coffin; sister- Joannette Bryant, Connie Williams, and Irene Pratt; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
A small service will be held on March 19th at 2 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road Buxton.
“Who is Martha (Louise) Guthzeit? Honestly, there’s no easy answer to that question. Because she meant something different to everyone in her life. However there was one thing that everyone felt who got to know her, and that was love. Louise (my mémé) tried to be kind to everyone, no matter what drama or issues they caused. She tried to make it so that her home was neutral ground and everyone should get along. Of course, like everyone she did have her flaws, but her heart seemed to always overcome them. Unfortunately, throughout her life she was dealt a rough hand, but as strong as she was (and I’m sure still is) she kept moving on without a problem. No matter the grudges, some may have had in the past towards Louise, in the end, we all still loved her and she loved us. I personally know for a fact that life won’t ever be the same without her, and I’m sure many people would agree with me. She was there for a lot of people, friends and family. We’ll miss you mémé and we’ll always love you.” - Harold M. Coffin
