Peter J. Descoteaux, 55, of Manville died Saturday March 10, 2018 at Landmark Medical Center.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of Ernest A. and Cecile J. (L’Etoile) Descoteaux. He was raised in Manville and was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1980. He also lived in Woonsocket for many years.
Peter was employed in the construction trade as a carpenter and roofer and was particularly talented at masonry.
Peter loved being outdoors. Winter was his favorite season; Peter braved the cold weather no matter what. He took a memorable trip in his younger years to go skiing in Switzerland. Peter was also active with Scouts serving as a Scout leader and also as a camp counselor for Camp Yawgoog. Peter had a green thumb as he meticulously tended to his garden.
Peter will be remembered for his love for his family and as a kind and helpful person. Anyone in need of a hand could count on Peter. Peter took each and every day as it came with his usual cheery outlook on life.
In addition to his parents Peter is survived by a daughter Kayla McCusker of Narragansett. He was the brother of Thomas Descoteaux (Janet) of Manville, Daniel Descoteaux (Linda) of Cumberland, Bruce Descoteaux (Gilberto Macias) of San Diego, CA, Denise Spagnuolo (Anthony) of Burrillville and Kathleen Diogo (James Lapierre) of Woonsocket. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday March 17th at 11:00 am in St. James Church, 33 Division St. Manville. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family at the church beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Providence Rescue Mission P.O. Box 72753 Providence, RI. 02907.
