William Francis "Sonny" Steele, Jr., age 78, of Chase City, VA, went to be with our Creator on Sunday, March 11, 2018. He was born on September 17, 1939 in Washington, D.C. to the late William Francis Steele, Sr. and the late Alice Rebecca Ray Steele.
He was a loving father and grandfather, a proficient stock car mechanic and team member to Nascar driver Rex White and later crew chief to his brother Alan, and son Craig. Sonny lived a full and exciting life as one of God's servants on Earth and he looked forward to reuniting with God.
He was predeceased by his brother, Alan Steele.
Sonny is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Owen and husband, Bobby of Buffalo Junction, VA, Judy Brothers and husband, Matt of Chase City, VA, and Debbie Gill of Centreville, MD; one son, Craig Steele of Smyrna, DE; and grandchildren, Brandon Estes, Morgan Owen, Michaela Owen, Paul David Gill, Melissa Gill, and Madison Steele-Wise. He is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Talley and Patricia Isaac; mother of his children, Roberta S. Steele; special friends, Charles and Wanda Barnes, Rex White, Frank Schneider, and Nick Pappas; and numerous other family members.
A memorial service will be held from 11 until 2 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the American Legion Post No 8, 1710 Jeffress Blvd, South Boston, VA 24592.
