Laconia-----Edna R. "Sis" Colby, 93, of Taylor Street, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Forestview Manor.
Edna was born on April 1, 1924 in Tilton, the daughter of James W. and Hazel A. (Strout) Doherty. Edna graduated from Laconia High School in 1942, going on to study accounting at Aviation High, Redondo, CA and advanced accounting at El Camino College, Gardena, CA. Edna married her husband, Charles D. Colby, in 1948. In March of 1972, Edna started work for Nighswander Law Office as a Legal Assistant, retiring in March of 1997. Edna was an avid roller skater since 15 years old, retiring from roller skating in August, 1999, at the age of 75.
Edna is survived by her grandchildren, Pauline Marie Colby Doucette and her husband, Tim, Jaime Louise Hilderth and Tia Lisabeth Colby; great-grantchildren, Olivia and Matthew Doucette; great great-grandson, Christopher Doucette; brothers, James A. Doherty, Fred P. Doherty and his companion, Lois and Donald J. Doherty and his wife Vivian; niece and nephews; Bonnie Doherty, Donald J. Doherty and his wife, Judy, Paul Doherty and grandniece and grandnephews, Jahnna Doherty, Connor D Doherty and Carter R. Doherty. She was predeceased by her husband; her children, Dana Charles Colby, Phylip Leonard Colby and Pamela Mary Colby-Knorr; grandson, Rodney Dana Colby; sister, Adelaide M. Marquis and her husband, Albert and sister-in-law, Violet Doherty.
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held in the Spring in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery.
