WORCESTER: Eleanor L. Ryan, 89, a former resident of the Wayne Center in the Bronx, NY, died on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the MJHS Hospice in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
She leaves her sister, Bernadine Petty and her husband Francis of Worcester; 3 nieces, Sandra Standring and her husband Billy of Auburn, Jean M. Boonstoppel and her husband John of Oxford, Mary Meersman and her husband Scott of Charlton; 5 nephews, Charles E. Carey, Jr. and his wife Jean of Bellingham, Gary F. Carey and his companion Karen Mueller of Millbury, John B. Carey of Millbury, Dennis Petty and his wife Mary Lou of Worcester; Joseph Petty and his wife Gail of Worcester, and many great nieces and great nephews.
A brother, Daniel Ryan, and 4 sisters, Jean Ryan, Elizabeth F. “Betty” Carey, Marian Adamski, and Teresa J. Ryan, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Patrick F. and Mary E. (Desmond) Ryan. She lived in Boston before moving to New York City many years ago.
Eleanor worked as a telephone operator at several retail stores in Boston and New York City.
A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 A.M. on SATURDAY, MARCH 17 in ST. BERNARD’S CHURCH, 228 Lincoln Street. After cremation, burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are No Calling Hours.
